The aim of the Department of Sports is to develop, promote and sponsor national sporting and recreational activities, with the overall goal of positively influencing the physical and social well-being of all Bahamians. Additionally, the Sports Department provides appropriate support services to all sports federations and associations, Family Island sports councils, recreational leagues, and all legitimate “sports-tourism” related enterprises. The Department of Sports is headed by Mr. Timothy Munnings.

- The new National Stadium (a gift from the People’s Republic of China with a seating capacity of 15,000)
