Public Service Commission (PSC)

The Public Service Commission is the commission to which personnel matters for all officers, excluding Police, Judicial and Legal Officers, are referred.

The functions of the Public Service Commission (PSC) are found in Article 107 of the constitution. This article gives the PSC powers to make appointments to Public Office, to remove and to exercise disciplinary control over public officers with the exception of those persons who come under the Police, and Judicial and Legal Service Commissions. The detailed functions and procedures of the Public Service Commission (PSC) are outlined in the Public Service Commission Regulations. The regulations make provision for defining the status, legal protection and privileges of members of the Public Service Commission (PSC) and the appointment of the Secretary. They also outline the procedure for notification of vacancies, advertising of vacant posts, examinations for advancement in the Service, appointments, promotions and disciplinary procedures, such as termination of appointments, appeals against dismissal under delegated powers and other lesser disciplinary charges.
