All persons who may wish to use the National Flag and/or Coat of Arms on any articles to be produced, distributed, sold, or imported into The Bahamas, or in connection with any business, must obtain written permission from the Minister of National Security.  It must be noted that permission is not required for the display or use of the Coat of Arms on government buildings.


Eligibility 

There are no eligibility criteria for this service.

Process 
  1. Complete the Application Form “Application for Permission to use the National Flag and/or Coat of Arms of a similar Flag or Device”.
  2. Submit the form along with samples of items or illustrations to be used to:

            or By hand to:

  1. The application process will take up to five business days after submission of all relevant documents.
  2. The colour code required for the National Flag is as follows:
         Aquamarine : PMS 3145
         Gold : PMS 123
         Black : PMS Standard
  3. The applicant will be contacted when the permit is ready.

Note:

Family Island applicants can submit their applications through their Administrator’s Office or send via mail. They must ensure that all relevant documents and fees or receipts are enclosed.

Application for Permission to use the National Flag and/or Coat of Arms of a similar Flag or Device

Supporting Documents 
  • Completed Application Form or detailed letter requesting use of National Flag
    or Coat of Arms
  • Samples of Items or Illustrations to be used

Note:

A new application must be completed and submitted on a yearly basis

Turn-around time 
Approximately five business days or one week.
Deadline 
There are no deadlines associated with this service, but all applications expire on 31st December, following the date of issue.
Related Fee(s) 
  1. National Flag - BS$20
  2. Coat of Arms - BS$20

Note:

  • All payment by cheque must be certified and made payable to the Public Treasury or The Ministry of National Security.
  • Other forms of acceptable payment are cash or money order.
  • Cash payment should be made to the Public Treasury, and receipt submitted to the Ministry of National Security.
  • Fees or receipt of payment are to accompany application form and relevant documents.
