As the Government of The Bahamas technical focal point for GIS in The Bahamas, The Bahamas National Geographic Information Systems (BNGIS) Centre is charged with the responsibility of providing various training courses to government agencies.  As such, the Centre has a Training Facility which can be used by all government agencies only.  The Training Facility is fully equipped and can accommodate up to ten persons. The following is a list of amenities which are available:

  • Ten high end computer systems.
  • A training server all configured within a network environment.
  • ESRI desktop GIS software is loaded on all systems.
  • Internet connectivity is provided through the Government Wide Area Network (GWAN) which allows users internet access on all training systems, if required.
  • An LCD Projector and projector screen.
  • Instructors Training Laptop if required.
  • Chart boards.
  • Multi-media and access to printing may be provided upon request.

Eligibility 

This service can be accessed by government agencies only.

Process 
  1. The requesting agency/department head should submit a formal request addressed to the Director, BNGIS Centre on the relevant form.
  2. Request is reviewed and based on assessment criteria the request may be approved or refused.
  3. The requesting agency/department head will receive a response from the BNGIS Centre within two to three working days.
  4. Requesting agency which is granted approval is required to setup training software and electronic lessons under the supervision of BNGIS Centre’s technical staff.

Turn-around time 
The requesting Agency/Department Head will receive a response from the BNGIS Centre within two to three working days from receipt of the request
Deadline 
Applications should be submitted to the Centre for consideration five working days or more prior to date when Training Facility is needed by the requesting agency.
