After a period of three years, a child cannot be registered, however a Pink Card or Search Card can be issued.  This search card along with a sworn affidavit will be accepted in the absence of a birth certificate.

Eligibility

Children or adults whose birth was not registered before the age of three.

Process

To record the birth of an infant over three years old, the following steps should be taken:

  1. Submit Proof of Birth (letter from the hospital, clinic card, letter from school, baptism certificate or in some cases a voter’s card) to the Births Section of the Registrar General’s Department.
  2. A search will then be carried out for the birth.
  3. If the birth is not found, a numbered “Pink Card” is issued. This card indicates that no record of the registration was found.

Note:

  1. The pink card is a onetime issuance.
  2. The pink card should be attached to the affidavit. The affidavit will only be recognised as an official document when a pink card is attached.
  3. It is recommended that the affidavit be recorded in the Deed and Document section of the Registrar General's Department.

Note: At this time, this service is only provided in New Providence and Grand Bahama at the Registrar General’s Department.
