The Airport Authority came into operation on May 1st, 2000 under the Airport Authority Act. A Board of seven (7) Directors under the direction of its Chairman governs the Airport Authority.
By virtue of its status and as official legal entity of the Government of The Bahamas, the Airport Authority (the Authority) in 2007 entered into an agreement with the Nassau Airport Development Company Limited to build, operate and maintain the Lynden Pindling International Airport.
The Authority employs approximately four hundred (400) personnel and numerous others by way of service contracts. While working in partnership with all stakeholders, its mandate is to ensure the safety of each airport user.
